The Sky

Lift me to the skies;
Let my perspective rise
Till I see the things of earth
As it were from second birth.

Instead of time on business
Teach the science of is-ness,
Let light fill my being
To clarify my seeing.

Give me fine discernment
That I may learn what’s meant
When lies are spread, and courage
To respond without rage.

Strengthen me to hear
All nature’s cry, and bear
Each life-form’s tortured silence
Faced with human violence.

If I can inspire
others to reach higher
Then may I be of use
Teaching folks to choose

The path away from noise
And all that it destroys;
So may their lives be whole
And peace restore their soul.
