The Watcher in the Rain was first presented at the Rose Theatre, Fulham Rd, London on 17 August 1991 by the Actions and Words Company, director David Beaton.

In this production an attempt was made to pare down the dialog -as it was thought- to aid comprehensibility. It had the opposite effect.

This text was edited as a definitive version as a result of that production.

Bracketed words in very small type are to supply motivation only: they should not be spoken.
